All the submissions were enjoyable to read on some level, and there was great use of this quarter's prompt.

There were three standout favourites for me which were, 4, 5 and 6.

There's a number of ways in which I could rate them, categories in which each one shined most strongly.

Ultimately though, as a reader, I'm generally all about that climax.

    With that in mind:

    1. #5
    2. #4
    2. #6

Time to read! Expect reviews to start coming, eesh @ how busy things are lately. :D

Edit: Almost done, have two more... I plan to finish before tallying, if anyone else is done. I'll probably tally in a few hours, actually, which is technically a hair past midnight for me.

Shall we say... official end date for reviews is in 2 hours and 12 minutes?

That's midnight PDT, 2 AM Central, or 7 AM UTC.

Well, those were all pretty good. No stories that I'd call bad, though some were better than others.

For me, #6 was a clear winner. Part of that is bias towards the characters in question, but then I can't be completely without bias. But the rest? Apart from two that sit in my mind as slightly weaker (but still solid entries), it's very difficult to pick a second and third place. Reckon I have to, however.

But first, let me say that I was very impressed with the width and breadth of plots, characters, and varieties of vampire introduced for this competition. Every story felt different and unique. Kudos to everyone who entered.

The story I didn't finish? Had Newt Scamander in it, if that matters to anyone. I still hope to write it, but then I still hope to edit the last story I wrote for one of these but didn't finish in time, so... perhaps that will happen, but more likely it won't.

    1. #6
    2. #5
    3. #3

I'll tally in a few hours - if you need to get a last minute review in, go ahead. Thanks again everyone!

    And the WINNER is... #5!
    Congratulations to
    Upside Down!

As this was a 'close' race, there's also a Runner-Up! Congratulations also to #6!

Yes, I know... there's not always going to be a runner-up. Only if it's reasonably 'close' will there be a runner-up, and this time it really was!

Let me know if I screwed up the calculations anywhere!

Thanks again to everyone who entered. I think this was our best set of stories since we renewed the competition, and I hope that's a trend that will continue.

Fantastic job everyone, even those who didn't win. There were no awful stories. Go edit! Loads of constructive feedback, which is a reward in itself (at least imo).

Next poll will be up before long!

First of all, congratulations to the very mysterious and unknown person who won the competition! Entry #5 is what I would've voted for, too.

But I also want to thank everyone who reviewed. Every single review made it worth to take part in this competition, and I almost think there should be a voting for who did the best review, too, because we had some truly outstanding ones.

@Blorcyn @Typhon @enembee @Ched @Zombie @Halt @Jeram @CareOtters - that was some quality feedback and I think that sending my prompt in and have it reviewed by you guys helped my writing at least as much as the 450k story I've written previously.

That's how valuable your feedback is, and I hope to see you reviewing next time, too.

Special thanks go to @Blorcyn @enembee and @Typhon , because while the others provided high to very high-quality feedback, you managed to add something extra even to that. Thanks for the huge effort.

Also, fuck you enembee, for exposing every single weakness of my entry :D

Honestly, if I was going to rank them I would have gone 5 and 6 in that order, so I guess the system works. Congratulations to both of you. Really well deserved.
