    Summary:

The war is over. Harry has fought long and hard for the peace of Magical Britain, but what if he's not done fighting? What if he enjoyed the fighting and killing? Harry's found the niche he's always wanted. In Britain he's regaled as a hero, but everywhere else he's just a normal everyday Hitwizard.

    Challenge:

Harry figures his life will always be under a magnifying glass in Britain, so he packs his bags and leaves town.

He comes across the Hitwizarding lifestyle.

He takes enforcement jobs, retrieval missions, a couple assassinations of Dark wizards/witches and people that have it coming to them.

It's all going well until someone(s) figure(s) out that Harry Potter is now a mercenary, and wanting to prove themselves, they set him up. Everything goes to hell and he escapes. He goes underground again, and comes back with a vengeance.

    Conditions:

Not really a good lifestyle for a permanent relationship. Most women would frown upon the killings and such. Flings and booty calls are fine. Nay encouraged. Nay mandatory!

Harry just stopped a war; he's not really out to start a new one by killing politicians. If he's going to kill a politician he'll be choosey, and with his morality he probably won't kill light sided wizards/witches.

Harry's not infallible. He's not uberpowerful. He's not fucking Superman, mainly cause he doesn't swing that way. He bleeds. He's human. He fucks up every now and then, but he's reliable in the clutch.

Malfoy's an obvious candidate for the dick who sets Harry up, so try something else. Maybe Britains Magical PM (Fudge, Scrimgeour) found intelligence that Harry is a Hitwizard, and decide he/they don't want that the Hero of Britain staining their reputation.

All right there it is, my challenge.

Hmm, this doesn't sound that bad but were would it end up? Is Harry trying to race to clear his name or something, or just kill every fucker who looks at him wrongly?

I quite like hitwizard!Harry. but usually it's badly done and the involvement of muggle weapons is apparent. What about his friends and things? Does he become a total social outcast, living just for the thrills and kills?

I'd just leave that up to the writer. My preference is to kill whoever it was and get on with my life.

Everybody expects him to settle down and raise a fuckload of Weasley brats, but he's too into the excitement and violence of the war lifestyle to give peace a chance. He'll never have an anonymous life in Britain, so he splits.

Guns are bad. Especially in HP fanon. If they were to use guns, I'd suggest something like jbern's Bungle. Magically enhanced. Rune's carved into bullets to make them explode on impact ro something. But in general I frown upon gun use.

I'll leave that up to the writer. I made suggestions, they can take it how they want it.

Than this is more like a plot bunny than a challenge. While a challenge does give an author freedom, it still has a basic plot outlined.

At least, so I've been told.

The devil here is in details. Who set him up? How? What are the plot threads? Twists? OC's? A lot of space to explore here, probably too much for most authors.

One problem...according to JKR a hitwizard is a less qualified auror. They are the police, to the auror's military. If I remember correctly you only need a couple of OWL's to become a hitwizard, where it takes 5 NEWTs to enter a 3 year training course for being an auror.

Believe it or not, I had a similar idea bouncing around in my head a few weeks ago. Except in mine, Harry wasn't a Hitwizard; he was a gun-for-hire, killing drug dealers, guerrilla leaders, and every Dark Wizard he could find. Don't be fooled by the gun-for-hire; he's using a wand, people. Colombian muggles tend to underestimate you when you bring a foot-long stick to a gunfight.

Anyway, I figure Ron is the one who betrays him. The Weasel uses his fame as the Boy-Who-Lived's sidekick (and, since Harry's disappearance, he's free to inflate his own efforts to the War), secures a high position in the Ministry, perhaps Senior Undersecretary to the Minister. Originally Hermione was involved as well, but I think it might be better to spirit her away. She's in Canada, working as a podiatrist or a pediatrician or something.

Being betrayed, Harry obviously goes into the criminal underworld he's spent a decade fighting against. Whether or not he goes Dark is up to you. Or me. I might take this up.:)

I'm a fan of Mercenary!Harry, BlackLagoon!Harry, etc. It should be done.

Some of the obvious pitfalls would be you would have to create quite a few OC's, new wizarding and muggle locations, spells/magical items (although DLP lists can help with this), a good, well thought out plot with conflict, villains, and an overarching theme.
