This isn't a specific story that I'm looking for but more of an idea. I want a Harry who's a revolutionary, someone who sets out to change society through armed force if necessary. Maybe a Harry who leads the suppressed Muggle-Born majority against the ruling Pureblood minority?

The closest I've ever come to this is Emperor by Marquis Black.

Sort of, I guess, though I never thought of it in terms like that.

Have you read The Minister's Son? Its only four chapters and has updated in forever but it has a Muggle-Born terrorist group in called the People's Wand. If that's the sort of group you're looking for Harry to lead then I think you might be out of luck.

Darth Marrs's Broken Chains may fit the bill. A HP/Star Wars crossover, Harry returns from the Veil as a Sith Lord and gathers a faction of minions as he sets out to take over the world.

@Perspicacity: what is your opinion on Broken Chains? I didn't read it because of the premise, but I will if you recommend it.

I'd say it's a guilty pleasure read at best from an author whose standard is to write "almost recommended" quality tending toward curb-stomps. I wouldn't rank it as among his best stories, though. It's pretty much a super-Harry/Hermione with "Luna flakes" (take a pairing, add Luna as eccentric threesome element, voila) and they're only starting to get into the whole "take over the world" thing.

While the quality is hit-or-miss, Darth Marrs is commendable for updating regularly (every Saturday) and he's been on my notifications list ever since he inquired about adapting my Detention in Defense a few years ago.

I think he finished that sometime ago. I tried to read his fics, but to me they fell short of something.

I'm currently reading "Broken Chains". It's not really that bad of a story, but I haven't really liked "Back to the Light Side" stories similar to Revan. I generally prefer them staying Dark, but this story's pretty interesting.

Just wait 'til you get to the Luna bullshit. It becomes a lot less interesting really fast. Mostly because I still don't get what the hell she is supposed to add to the dynamic of Harry and Hermione that wouldn't be better resolved by internal character conflict and development.

I've always kinda wanted to write a story where Vernon is a trade unionist who joined a communist party during the strikes against Thatcher in the 1980's. It would have had Harry enter Hogwarts having been brought up on the Manifesto and Das Capital (Vernon hates magic because it's not the scientific materialism as understood by marxist thought) but it always seemed just a tad ridiculous to have an eleven year old spouting Bordiga or whoever at aristocratic pure-bloods. Plus, that's not a story but my political ideology in prose.

I was writing one, but it's sad untouched for awhile. Been trying to pull a mattsilver and write everything before posting, so I should be posting the beginning of the rewrite soon. 'course, it's a bit different than most.... what with Cowboy!Harry, and a manipulative time lord.... but eish.

Isn't Vernon is a very conservative upper manager in canon?

He's the director of Grunnings drills or something so in canon he very likely would have been rooting for Thatcher. I would have had him come from a working class family and been part of the union of Grunnings instead.

I believe Vernon belongs to that uniquely British class: the upper lower class. That is to say, he comes from a working class background, but now has a comfortable middle class amount of money. However, he retains the conservative views of his working class origins.

So I think he would identify as working class yet also support Thatcher.

I get all this from the fact that he reads the Daily Mail.

I think that if I looked up tangent in the dictionary I'd probably find this thread.

I wrote a silly little one shot awhile back called Literary Devices. It doesn't quite have a Revolutionary Harry but it does play with the idea a bit.
