Right, because canon Harry Potter, who vanquished Voldemort, was competent and powerful.....

The Founders created Hogwarts Castle, which I'm pretty sure requires competence and some power. Even Rowling can't pussify the Founders when they did that.

Don't curse it, please, I beg you... If she admits that she changed OotP (Arthur's supposed death) due to fan pressure than she might just do the same with the founders. We all have seen enough of terrible fanfiction to know that some people did pussify the Founders and if Rowling shall listen to them.... just don't curse it.

Rowling would be better suited writing a new series with more implied Blove and leather pants. Magic is out now and she can't ride the vampire wave, so she'll need to think of a new gimmick. Maybe they're psychics or something this time? Psychics at a psychic academy.

If she writes it subtely enough, she can get even more Christian outrage than she did from HP. Oh, the joys of corrupting youth.

Perhaps she shall come up with an interesting story where Harry meets Edwardo or Bello. It shall be the next great *epic* of the year :O_O:

Nah, she'll probably use whatever trend is currently on the rise and make shit loads of money.

Is anyone familiar with Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow parallel novels? This is sort of what I'd like to see her do. Write the series again, from a different angle. Dumbledore? Snape? Voldemort? Malfoy? Hermione?

Perhaps just take someone barely even mentioned in the book, and use it as an opportunity to flesh out the magical world, politically, economically, and socially. A random pure blooded Ravenclaw, perhaps? I dunno. Just think that if done well, it'd have potential.

@Eidononic: I think someone else already suggested the Ender's Game/Shadow idea in this thread.

IMO the obvious choice would be Neville. He's close enough to the main characters to be involved sometimes, prophecy could have meant him, starts off as nothing but turns into something cool at the end, is a pureblood and in that crowd, and so on.

Yea ... I can hardly wait. Neville Longbottom, The Boy Who Wasn't. 6 books detailing how he hid in the shadows. Followed by one book that has potential to be good (say what you want about canon but in book 7 he was pretty awesome), but which will be inevitabely screwed up by Rowling.

I'd like to see her write something new. Seriously, the first few HP books were great, but I'd be happy to never see another one.

I agree, but Rowling seems more like a writer that focuses on the personal lives of the charectars rather than the society they live in, except for the really big stuff.

Admittedly. I'd still like to see it, but I guess exploring the broader possibilities the magical world could house is a job left for fanfiction.

Though it would never happen, I'd like to see Rowling allow a licensed expanded universe (a la Star Wars). She could retain artistic control, but let it flow freely enough to resemble the Marvel-'verse in terms of audiences and timelines.

    And it'd be hella-profitable.

I would also LOL at the subsequent mass vanishing of all HP fanfic off of ff.Nazi, and similar disappearance of DeviantArt fanart, as fanfic authors and artists teamed up to get their shit published XD.

I would like Rowling to write some erotica, just so I can laugh at her. If the so-called romance in her Potter novels are horrible, can you imagine what she would do to the romance genre?

Rowling following Harry Potter with a series of trashy romance novels won't be a loss to me, for I am not a fan of these cheesy books any way. The romance novels with implanted females and steroid ridden, Fabio looking guys, I meant.

    Cheers,
    Mary

If she were to venture into the Erotica genre, Rowling will probably a series of Dumbledore/Grindelwald smut to piss of Catholics.

I made that suggestion on page 5 of this thread and also suggested Neville as the main character. Your reasoning behind Neville is the same as mine (although I didn't go as far as you and state why I would choose to go with Neville's perspective).
