Too bad, it was a pretty awesome streak, 8-0 or something like that?

At least 10-0. I haven't watched the finals yet, though. He might have won another couple games before losing some.

EDIT: Wait, I misunderstood something somewhere. The other finalist is Moon, master of the comedy baneling. How did he manage to take games off Ace?

EDIT the second: Ace was 13-0 before he lost to Moon in game 1. Shame.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply. I've kind of been wrapped up with DA:2.

Anyway, I'll try to answer as much as I can.

Yes, though once you hit a critical mass of units, you'll be close to mined out in your main, so you better either expand, or finish the game.

It is very gas heavy, though you end up with excess minerals to do with what you want (generally zealots to just take damage and form a wall). I generally early expand when possible (Shakuras in cross positions for example), or I threegate safe expand. Threegate is much slower to get to the critical mass of units, but sometimes it's the only option.

It's a struggle sometimes, but generally with good building placement, unless the zerg is willing to do some crazy all in (and they generally can't if you have good building placement and enough units), you should be safe til you get that first collosus out. Once that's out, your front line because very, very hard to break for a zerg.

Well. the build is so adaptable that you change depending on what you see. If you see more corrupters, cut collosus a little bit and make more stalkers/voidrays. If you see mutas, make more stalkers, cut voidray, ect ect. The "basic build" of collosus/void will get you out there with collosus, voidray, some stalkers, and tons of zealots to take damage and form a wall that allows you to keep that collosus back.

Yes, I played around with it. It's an interesting concept, but pretty ineffective against hard pushes like 4gate from what I've seen. I think it could be incorporated into an ultralisk/broodlord lategame strat with quite a bit of success though.

Well there's two things about the build that lets you deal with this. One, is that you generally have quite a bit of excess minerals. If they're devoting tons of resources to muta harass, I'd say it's a good investment to lay a few cannons down. You know their main army size will be limited due to the mutas, so it's not a huge drag on the build.

The other way to deal with it, is to take advantage of how flexible the build is. They're going muta? Cut voidray, make phoenix and stalkers. Phoenix might not be the absolutely most effective way to deal with muta, but combined with stalkers, they're a quick reaction that will help fend off anything but mass muta (in which case you just go and kill him as he can't have any decent defense build up).

Also, anyone who hasn't seen this should check it out. SCI Terran missions ported to the SCII engine. It's pretty cool.

Just going to take a look at this last quote:
First off, if they're attempting to harass you with Mutas while you're moving your army out, you can see, as you said, one of three-ish things. The first idea that I'd do is get out one phoenix early game just as a scout and annoyance mechanism, trying to snipe overlords. One phoenix CAN outmicro potentially infinite mutalisks [although that's obviously not viable in terms of microing / APM], so usually the enemy will go for Hydralisks, and bam, you've done your job in terms of eliminating their air control. If not, and they decide to go mutas, yes, you can scout it - you have a phoenix inside their base looking for their techpath and they CAN'T stop you. If they go quick Spire, you just get more Phoenixes, and you get free kills if they try to harass your base.

Second, yes, cannons work. However, yes, the most key point of this is that you can just blow through their entire everything. Protoss Deathball > Anything Zerg has at the moment, which is why the strategy is so powerful. Just 1-A through their base.

I really have to wonder if Fruitdealer will ever get out of his slump. It's starting to get ridiculous.

The thing about Fruitdealer was that his victory in the GSL was predicated on nobody knowing how to deal with his style of play. Unfortunately for him, that style is basically standard now, so everybody knows how to deal with it.

I can't wait to see the VODs for the MC game. I heard he just completely dominated his opponent.

The announcers drooling all over MC was kind of annoying.

I guess it's time to see how HuK's time in Korea worked out (he's in Code S now. Probably doesn't deserve it).

EDIT: HuK is just bad at this matchup.

Yeah, he's absolutely completely standard besides for immortal play sometime. He either 4gates, or races to collosus.

If you saw his best of 7 against TLO, he lost both pvps due to this stuff.

And so, in a week, a new ladder season will begin. How you all feel about that?

Also, have to give massive props to Poobah, who is apparently in Masters League. Holy shit man!
