The new trailer for OOTP has shown a Voldemort that is far more fear imbibing then the cannon and fannon versions of him. A socialite Voldemort that seems to exhibit traits of the younger Riddle: suave, manipulation, self-confidence, and a seemingly disarming smile. There is a reason that his name was feared at the height of his power after all.

Now the challenge is basically to write out a far more realistic wizarding world starting with book 4 or 5, your choice. Death Eaters are fully capable and cannot be dispatched by the dozens by Harry (so no god Harry's), and Voldemort is powerful, capable, cunning, suave, and a general gentleman to all of society; there is a reason he swayed the Pure Bloods to his side other then pure power and a superioty complex.

Harry too will be different. There is a reason he resisted the Killing Curse, and he's not unpowerful. Make it totally AU; good study ethics, intelligence, power, and perhaps exhibiting small powers at a young age.

Basically the whole wizarding world will be different. Pure Bloods, while becoming slightly inbred, are powerful in a world still dominated by duels of words and magic; a wolf pack hierarchy mentality. Leaders are strong of magic and mind, and the world is generally harsh.

Challenge:

Write a realistic wizarding world. Try to make Severus play a part other then the stupidly loathing professor. He has a grudge, but it doesn't take over his life; He is a professor at the prestigious school of Hogwarts after all -- and it is prestigious.

No:

- God like Harry's
- mornic death eaters
- moronic Voldemort

Yes! There are so few stories that show Voldemort as anything more then a Ak happy megalomaniac. A few notably ones sure but so few and far between its almost sad.

I really hope someone picks up this challenge, as i really want to see how the author will portray the new Wizarding Britain.

 

An upcoming story of mine (I'll start after I finish one of my current ones. No sense in having too many at once) will fufill many of the above themes.

Snape will probably not feature an important role, however. It's also AU from CoS.

Snape doesn't need a large role, just not the typical charecterization of dark. Dark Wizards can be classy too.
