I challenge you to write an alternate version of HBP where Harry (who secretly joined Voldemort a few years ago) is given the task of killing Dumbledore rather than Malfoy. The story would follow Harry as he tries to come up with a successful method, all the time pretending to still be on the light side.

    Rules:
-You can make Harry stronger and more skilled than in canon (indeed, this is advised) but do not make him too strong: he is still a schoolboy. This is basically to make sure you don't make Harry beat Dumbledore in a straight out magical duel - you've gotta be more creative than that. (Finding a way to weaken Dumbledore then killing him with a spell is acceptable)

-Only Harry has turned to the dark side - no dark!trio in this.

-However, Harry cannot just dump his 'friends' - he still has to keep up his masquerade.

-When Harry is thinking, please don't have him rant too much about how he hates his friends so much and wishes he didn't have to spend time with them.

-Snape is definatly on Voldemort's side. However, whether he helps or hinders Harry, or even knows of his allegance is up to you.

-No H/G! Fake H/G where Harry is only pretending is allowed.

I hope someone takes this up as it would definatly prove interesting if done properly.

EDIT: As for coming up with a realistic way for Harry to have joined Voldemort (despite all indicators in the books that he is against him) you can say that Voldemort recognises that sacrifices must be made to keep Dumbledore trusting Harry as in the long run having your enemy implicitly trust your follower will pay off - even if those sacrifices are delaying his return by a few years.

As for the prophesy, you could say that when Harry joined Voldemort the prophesy child became Neville, though no-one knows this. It's really up to you.

This is definitely a well-thought-out challenge, and it would be interesting to see how it could be pulled off. My only gripe, however, is the fact that it would be very difficult for Harry to get over the fact that Voldemort murdered his parents, and then tried to kill him, enough to allow him to become one of the Dark Lord's followers. If you changed it slightly to have both Voldie and Harry secretly planning each other's death; then it would be a lot more realistic, especially if Riddle is well written. But, other than that, it's certainly a good idea. Hope someone takes it up.

It would bw much cooler if he was completely loyal. Unrealistic, but really, really cool.

I haven't said anything in the challenge about the extent of Harry's loyalty specifically for this reason - it would really be up to the eventual author to decide on fanatical!Harry or playing-both-sides!Harry.

Woot you must be the first person to use "Trident" as a verb. But on topic, I look forward to this.

If I were you I'd ask the admins (or mods if they can) to delete the thread just in case. I know Mid got some of his ideas tridented a while back when he put it in a thread.

    Better safe than sorry. :whipped:

Feel free to make a better one though, this is the product of 10 minutes with nothing better to do.
