Now THAT was just dumb, whoever did it. That being said someone who is supposedly fairly high up in the SPJ wants to create a round table for GG and AGG to talk, he'll be the first to seriously try since TB's attempt fell through. He's asked GG to pick four or five people we feel could speak for us and the voting for that has been going on over at KIA. Apparently during Journalism Ethics week that SPJ holds every year Aaayteam, a troll group that loves using the hashtag on twitter to start trouble, bombed their twitter with some rather bad gore porn which cought this dudes attention. Than, if he's to be believed, after going to people higher up and was told to leave it alone or he would get harassed online he decided to try anyway.

Also, Mercedes Carrera proves once again to be an intelligent and lovely woman while Chris Kluwe shows his ass, but that's nothing new for him. The debate they had was kinda sad since Kluwe really was out of his depth.

So I finally got around to looking at deepfreeze.it, and though I've only gotten through a few of there most recent articles and seen the journalists tab I've got to say, they seem really impartial.

I'm not particularly saying they have to be impartial since they're not an actual news site, I'm just saying that it's kind of hypocritical of them and I feel it only brings down the overall quality of the website. Which is a shame because if you can sift through the layer (edit: originally misspelled as "lair" I feel that both work in this case) of sheer vitriol there's actually really interesting stuff there.

 

This just in: Mainstream media calls gamergate a misogynist hate group.

 

What a surprise, someone who considers GG to be everything unholy finds it in his 'study' that they are indeed everything unholy and enemies of all things good.

Seriously though, this is fucking shameful, the amount of bias he displays.

If no one had truly sided with GG then it wouldn't have kept going on, no?

 

Articles like that used to make me angry.

Then I watch a Let's Play on YouTube with people who would be considered 'mainstream' clearly disclosing relevant information in the beginning. There's also fewer of them by the day labeling themselves as journalists.

Suddenly, I don't care any more. They can call 'GG' whatever the fuck they want, I don't think it matters.

There will always be assholes, at least now it's easy to spot and ignore the offensively ethically bankrupt.

 

I don't know man, if I wrote such a poorly sourced study at work I'd be laughed out of my job.

While I can't summon enough outrage to care, I definitely hope people who work in HR will notice.

You don't hire incompetents, period.

 

For those that remember the Sad Puppies, the votes are in and none of the Sad Puppy candidates won a Hugo, and in five categories where there wasn't a contender that wasn't backed by the Sad Puppies no award was given.

Pretty strange phenomenon of the modern age really. The exact same thing is happening with the Labour party elections. Group you can buy into has a vote, the vote gets massively swollen with people voting in ways others dont like . Don't think I entirely buy that it was a hijacking as such though. People legitimately joined worldcon. Feels like they should have had a mechanism to stop that sort of thing, a limited number of members per year or whatever, but I guess nobody thought something like this would happen.

Think, like GRRM, that it was dumb idea to nuke the awards. Cutting off the nose to spite the face.
