Well, It's written in second person imperitive, and was abandon back in '04 it's... um... well the spelling is good...

I ended up skimming the first chapter, Excessive angst, Excessive 'emo-ness' and Suicidal!Harry make this story a fail.

It gets better.

The charm of the story is that it was one of the nascent works in Indi-Harry, and people remember it fondly for such.

When adjusted for nostalgia, the one or two stars you might give now can be taken as 3 or 4. ;P

 

I can definitely understand the 1/5 knee-jerk reaction from Cutting!Harry, but the difference in quality between chapters one and two is astounding.

There is quite a bit of interesting stuff in here, especially since it was written in 2004. Writing style is pretty good as well.

But there's a bit too much angst here for my taste, and the plot will never be resolved, so I'm forced to round down the rating.

P.S: I decided to attach the whole fic to this thread for amusement purposes.

 

I can't deny either of those points, but my opinion that this doesn't belong in the library remains unchanged. If you want it kept for nostalgia it should be in the recycle bin, not here.

 

You guys realize this is DLP member and mega-awesome author liath (Taliath) from back when he was like 13? His newer HP stuff on hiatus are practically must-reads if you can stomach unfinished stuff. Young Again: The Rewrite and In Light of Silver Memories. Or if you like Naruto, he's still posting and updating Across Dimensions.

Oh I quite agree, the new stuff kicks some serious ass, this one just... doesn't.

 

Taliath's improvement from run-of-the-mill to spectacular writer serves as an inspiration to myself.

It seems that some people took it to continue the fic as a round robin, it's bound to be bad but I'll give it a go for nostalgia's sake.
