My enjoyment of the story has actually been going down with the latest updates. We're jumping from extremely dramatic moment to another more dramatic moment pretty quickly and it just gets annoying after a while. Something is shown as being the culmination of something that happened hundreds or thousands of years ago, only to be instantly overshadowed by the next big thing.
On top of that there simply is too many important characters being gathered up together, where we between the dramatic moments need to see them interact because they've never met before. So we're jumping from viewpoint to viewpoint and ever escalating dramatic moments, and it all just ends up feeling disjointed.
The ending to volume 8 arrived today (68k words), so I guess we'll see if everything is gathered up in some kind of satisfying conclusion.

I’ve started to read it, so far I would say it definitely does a better job introducing the world and characters who end up being important later on.
