You should be careful. Someone told me in another thread that people who are able to write a good, smart Voldemort who actually has a chance at world domination, then people will perceve them as an evil world conquerer themselves. And your's is a damn good Voldemort.

Well i liked your chapter Jbern if the next is spanned over a longer period then 12 hours like you mentioed it would be fantastic. Are you making the donation that is going towards the army large? therefore indicting that Harry is indeed superduper rich?

You said that Harry has never cared for money before, though true you'd think that would change as soon as he come in to headship of the family and considering that the money is for future generations of the Potter family why would you give the impression that he will squander it and become like some fucking discusting Weasely.

 

Jim, i'd have to agree with Lord Osiris.

It seems OOC of Harry, considering his current personality, to go ahead an finance the entire conscription minus a little bit from other donors.

He just became the head of the Potter family...squandering his fortune, money that he had no part in making, on financing something that will revolutionize the Wizarding World, neither for better nor worse, is not something he would do.

I'd say that maximum 1 million Galleons would be the way to go. Remember, as oyu pointed out, that 1,000 galleons is a shitload of money. A million should leave him with about 5-6million in his accounts (black+potter), and he wouldn't be blowing it all away.

As i said a few months ago, there aren't that many expenses. In this case, since it would be an army, there would be pay for the conscripts. Apart from that, al that needs to be bought is basic armor and robes. THey already have wands, and the teaching of offensive curses should be part of what the officers (Aurors, i would guess) are paid for.

Emptying both his vaults wouldn't be a bright idea, and blindly placing trust in Scrimgeour this quick, after fallling out with someone else who was controlling him, is not something he would be prone to doing.

That said, the rest of the chapter, as i said before, was excellent. I'm gonna hold off on reading the Chap 3 of bungle that oyu sent me, but from a cursory look at it, it was extremely interesting. I had somehting to say, but i've forgotten it, and i'll probably remember once i re-read it.

BTW: you might want to think on posting it now on FicWad...the smaller audience might give you an idea as to how that sort of fic will be taken, kind of like a sample population survey.

Your story get better and better! I'm glad you're aware of the time issue, and how long the summer is getting, so I'm not overly concerned. Just FYI (for your information)

according to JKR: 1.) Harry is NOT a metamorphmagus. 2.) The sorting Hat is NOT a horcrux, and 3.) Nicholas Flamel IS dead.

I don't know if you planned to include these aspects or not. (Horcruxes?)

THere is only one question I had from this whole chapter and it is this:

Why on Earth would Rufus take Lavender and others to see Harry's killer Patronus? This should be top secret! Voldemort probably knows, but he isn't positive. THis information is SURE to get out to the public, and seems far more gossip worthy than who Harry is dating, ESPECIALLY in the midst of a war!

The money issue doesn't bother me as long as Harry isn't SUPER! Rich. As in wealthier than the Malfoys. Harry should be as wealthy as the Black family, who if you notice, don't own some ridiculous manor. Money should EVENTUALLY be an issue. As in Harry realizes he's spent HALF! (that's a LOT!) of his family's wealth, and decides to cut back.

Also, Augustus Rookwood is one of my FAVORITE characters. He was a SPY in the DEPARTMENT OF MYSTERIES!! He also wasn't there at DoM "fiasco". Maybe he could advise Voldemort? (best use of Rookwood so far is IP82's story...which needs to be updated )

Anyway, this story is fantastic! I REALLY love it! UPDATE SOON!

Dark Lord R - Thanks even though Voldy only got about 20 percent of the chapter. He always makes his presence felt.

Darth Bill - My wife would laugh. She would say I can't even dominate my house hold much less the world. Little does she know...

Lord O - Harry is only offering to kick in, not fund the whole thing. Between the Potter and Black fortunes he has quite a bit, in the realm of 5-10 mil. He could support the army for 6 months, but as you say why go it alone? Even if he squandered it and won Harry could still do the Gilderoy Lockhart thing. Take a pic with the BWL only 1 galleon!

Chuck - Time is definitely not on my side. Hadn't planned on Metamorph Harry, NO HORCRUXES and Flammel won't show up other than as an honorable mention. Lavender and several others slipped along. This was an oversight on Rufus's part (intentional on my part) he was in a hurry to see this in person. Rookwood will turn up now and then. I hadn't planned on using him that much, but things change. The DE's I have really been working on are obviously Dolohov and Peter, but I can work him in to the story.

Killginny gets credit for talking me out of the original version where Harry coughed up the keys to his vaults, rather than the more modest approach he took in the final version.

Why thank you, i happen to agree with your thought on JKR's monetary system, it just doesn't make sense that a galleon is considered a lot of money, if that was the case then the 1000 harry recieved in GoF would be a small fortune and enough to live off of for a while..

Good luck on your tests! I wonder if JKR gets a good laugh every now and then on how the fanfiction world dissects her work. I can picture her now "I see they are questioning the financial system of Wizarding Britain now!"

I am sure it makes for a good chuckle. On a different note, I would like to thank everyone for the rising popularity of my first work. Having only released chapter 13 a mere 36 hours ago, it already has almost 2000 hits and 33 reviews. The story has pushed from a cloudy idea in my head to over 100000 words. The kind/sinister/malevolent/intent on world domination people on this board have challenged my ability to give a children's/teenager's story a realistic mature and original edge.

Back on topic. This story kicks ass!!! That said this chapter was awesome!!! The only point I disagree with is Harry siding with Rufus so quickly and pretty much saying he would empty his vault for the war. I think given how mentally dexterous you made him he would consider his future more carefully, especially since he has Susan in it now. But thats been talked about enough so far so... meh.

Harry offered his support not the keys to his vaults. Rufus has his work cut out for him. It is one thing to say you want an army (well certain treaties say they can't call it an army). It's another thing to actually get it. One of my reviewers on ff wondered why age 35. Well the majority of the Wizengamot are over that age. They won't vote to draft themselves now would they.

Since you are called Niffler Lord did you enjoy Lavender being referred to as the "Gossip Niffler"?
