    It's the idea of any ninja being in danger from something as mundane as boiling water from a shower.

    I think I phrased that wrong. I'm not saying that it doesn't make sense for Naruto to leave in this particular story. I was talking about the idea of him leaving Konoha in general just due to how he's treated by the village.

    It makes sense for him to accept the deal in the specific situation of that fic. My problem is more with just how the story lead to that situation.

    As for the boiling water, yeah its a pathetic death but it's also a disappointing end to one of the few good villains in Naruto. I was just expecting more from a guy who was doing decently well against a rampaging 3 tailed nardo in canon.
