    Late and while sick, but;

    The bias was probable, and the issue was about how she wanted to show the film to the class, but the fact is that it's considered important enough and acceptable enough to be shown to children. The idea is that contrast; that the artistic element of the film is drowned by the fact that there was some sex in the representation.

    With the example, the dating is why I pointed out the fact that the UK reviewed their rating decision in 2003 and decided that the decision that they had made years ago was still valid today. So, while the system may have shifted slightly, I think that the ideas behind it are still the same.

    There are probably other modern examples as well. Off of the top of my head, the general stigma against pornography in the United States, while the violence of action heroes and such is completely ignored. There's an entire toy franchise based on soldiers with a strong sense of moral objectivism. And even within the Watchmen movie itself; no one notices the violence of the graphic novel or the movie, but the recoil from the sex and penis scenes which triggered this whole discussion.

    Like I said, I'm not extremely savvy with this whole affair and most of these are just examples which I've come across, but I think that the idea is valid. Violence is okay and sex is horrible. I don't know how that sort of spirit can exist and not be accused of being a double standard.

    I always thought that was strength of Watchmen. The characters are more ideologies and "Who watches the Watchmen?" can be asked between different characters, society, and government in many different directions. Sorry Taure if you think that's bullshit and pretentious then Animal Farm's really just about animals and rate it on that.

    Saw the movie until before Nite Owl and Spectre shack up but not hook up. Friend I was with was too upset by violence, so I led her out.

    Voiceover and monologue is ridiculous in Rorshach. I realize he is quite a solitary character, but they should try to limit this in superhero movies as it annoys the hell out of me. They should've just kept it to the comics. Loved Mason and liked Ozymandias better than the novel. Manhattan's okay. Spectre's acting is bad, though it could be I just didn't see enough of her to change my opinion.

    The violence is excessive if I had to walk out. I don't know what's with this trend, but I can't see this with anyone and have an intelligent discussion over this because the violence is fetishized in slow motion. I can't tell my friend to grow more balls either. The only film where I excuse this is A Clockwork Orange. You really wince through that one, but Alex is appropriately bad bad bad.

    I'd rather not tell anyone I'm a fan of Watchmen anymore so I'm not associated with this teenage wankfest.

    Bolded for the tl;dr crowd
    Do. Not. Want. so freaking bad.

    Sequels aren't always great and Watchmen is fine like it is. The only thing good that will come of this will be seeing nice guy Alan Moore cut a bitch.

    I wouldn't mind seeing some tales of Rorschach and Nite Owl back when they were partners. But I'd rather see it in a good fanfic than a published comic. Especially if that fuckwit Dan DiDio is involved.

    Hello,
    I thought it was an awesome movie but I have yet to read the book or anything. I never heard of watchmen before this movie so I have nothing to compare it to as many say the book is better but i loved it..thought it was a really good and witty story.
