I had the urge to write fanfiction for a few years now, but I've always been too lazy. Finally, I ran out of new stories to read, so I decided to get off my ass and start writing them myself.

Additionally, I write to improve the quality of my writing. I've found that since I started writing fanfiction its become much easier for me to write memos or motions.

I won't deny that I like getting positive feedback. Getting one of my stories nominated for Best Crossover Story of 2008 over at TTH made me fairly stoked. Now I just need to get off my ass and finish the multi-chapter stories I've begun.

    Why do I write?

Well, I write for myself, first and foremost. I, like every other fan ficiton author in my way of seeing things, am an artist. Maybe a crappy one, but an artist at the end. I write because it's one of the things that makes me feel alive and that I can do because I want to and I like it, not because somebody says I must, or because it's what I get paid to do for.

I write because I have an active imagination, ideas come to my head, and either I draw them, or write them down.

Writing, as all forms of art, is creating. And being able to create is the closest to being divine we can be.

It's expresion, I have an idea, and when I, for some reason can't out it, a character of mine can.

I write because I can make an entire world, make the rules, be the boss and even wipe it out all out with a simple key... 'delete'.

Like drawing, writing is freedom. By writing, I can make the impossible happen, there are no boundaries, no limits, no restrictions to what you can write... and I totally dig anarchism, maybe spiced with a bit of nihilism and, why not, a tad of megalomania and madness.

I write because I want to, because it makes me feel good.

    Because I need to.

And if someone else likes it, who's it hurting?

Whenever I write anything, it's usually a source of enjoyment to me.

However, I also write for an audience. Because as much as I like to write, I won't write it for just me to read.

It's so boring unless people read it.
