If it's Post Hogwarts then that could be easily incorporated into the summar ("Ten years after Voldemort's defeat, another dark force rises...").

The other tags are usually used by shitty authors anyway. Every Harry is basically an "Independent" Harry. And if people are searching for stories that are Mentor Snape, then chances are it would be such a big part of the plot that it should be included in the summary.

Nope, it's even more useless if you want to search by tag since authors would put even "James/Lily" even if they don't appear in the story since Harry's presence itself would "apparently" imply that. They'd put "Molly/Arthur" even if they're only in a chapter.

Some stories would even be tagged M/M even if it was only a single chapter where Dumbledore had a conversation with Harry.

And if you're searching for Harry/Daphne, it would list that even if the pairing in question was a flashback and Harry is now with Ginny.

Just because people don't know how to play with their toys correctly doesn't mean you have to take it out on the entire fandom.

There is great levels of stupidity among any shippers. Shipping in general is fucking stupid because when you have to create bias to make your relationship work, then you're not doing it right.

Perhaps it's cause I'm older now and the thought of teenagers romancing and serenading one another makes me feel weird, but I can't read any new stories where the pairing isn't already established. I read a Post Hogwarts Harry and Ginny story and quite liked it when a few years ago I'd avoid any story that had the word "Ginny" in the summary. I'd read a Ron/Daphne one if the pairing had started before the start of the fic. As long as the pairing is already established I couldn't give two shits who's with who.

I just don't read based on pairing at all. If there happens to be one, then fine. If its like 85 percent the driving element of the story, I drop it. Mostly because its poorly executed and there is very little they can do to keep me that interested in something that revolves around a romance pairing.

No idea how much people here read on ao3 but the amount of stories featuring Alpha/Beta/Omega relationships is really fucking weird. For some reason a great deal of them feature knotting (why?) or relationships with really creepy age differences and focus around fetishising gay relationships - all the worst elements of straight teenage girls writing slash but evolved with some weird adaption of soulmates.

The exact reason Ao3 doesn't load on any device in my house.
