Duster, HANL, and The Microphones in your top 10

Speaking of them, what'd you think of the new Duster and Mount Eerie albums?

 

I liked the new Duster album a lot, but I may be biased since Stratosphere is one of my favourite albums of all time and I'm a big fan of slowcore in general. My favourite tracks were probably Summer War, Chocolate and Mint, Damaged and Go Back. I don't like it more than Stratosphere or Contemporary Movement but it brings back nostalgia of first hearing Duster's washed out guitars and tape fuzz. It's somehow anxious and super relaxing at the same time, like something you can close your eyes and get existential about.

For Lost Wisdom pt. 2, it always feels a bit uncomfortable listening to a Mount Eerie album - like I'm being made witness to something that should be really intimate and personal. It's a decent album - good even, but when you have a discography like Phil Elverum it's difficult to find a way to top it. I liked the noisy parts of Belief and Love without Possession was really good as well but the album overall is a bit middling in a Mount Eerie discography.
